Periodontia

The Department of Periodontics comprises of an Undergraduate section and Post-graduate section. The undergraduate section houses 15 chairs and attends to a regular patient inflow of 40-50 patients a day.
The Post-graduate section accomodates six chairs and adjoining seminar room with Audio-Visual accessories and a full-fledged department library to conduct academic interactiond. The Post-graduate teaching programme is comprehensive. The students are trained in the latest treatment modalities from basic preventive therapy to resective and regenerative procedures. A well planned treatment schedule inclusive of management of acute conditions, traditional and contemporary treatment for pockets and furcation involvement like flap surgery, resections, bone grafting and GTR. Mucogingival surgical procedures like soft tissues and pedicle grafts and frenectomies.
Emphasis on inter-disciplenary apporach with special attention for strategic teeth, pre-prosthetic periodontal surgical procedures like crown-lengthening, ridge augmentation, vestibuloplastics temporary and permanent splinting for mobile teeth using newer materials. Varied, non-invasive apporaches for medically compromised patients including local drug delivery system. The department boasts of six full time M.D.S. staff members.
